End Substance Use Disorder Congratulates Rep. Deb Haaland on Her Historic Confirmation

Today, the Senate confirmed Rep. Deb Haaland as the Secretary of Interior. In addition to her historic confirmation as the first Native American to serve in the Cabinet, Secretary Haaland is proudly in recovery from substance use disorder.

“Secretary Haaland is a strong leader who will provide hope to millions who are struggling with substance use disorder or in recovery,” stated End Substance Use Disorder president Erin Schanning. “We need to eliminate stigma towards people with substance use disorder. We applaud President Biden for including leaders in recovery in his Cabinet and we congratulate Secretary Haaland on her confirmation.”
