End Substance Use Disorder Applauds Passage of the American Rescue Plan and Funding to Address Substance Use Disorder
End Substance Use Disorder applauds President Biden and Congress for passing the American Rescue Plan, which includes nearly $4 billion in funding for substance use disorder and behavioral health services.
“The COVID-19 pandemic has left millions of people with substance use disorder alone without easy access to the treatment and the support that they rely on to sustain their recoveries,” stated End Substance Use Disorder president Erin Schanning. “I know what it’s like to lose a loved one to an overdose after they have been striving wholeheartedly to get better. We thank President Biden and Congress for funding critical substance use disorder services during the pandemic. This downpayment is one step to ending the overdose crisis and we look forward to working together in coming months to pass the policies proven to prevent and treat substance use disorder.”
