End Substance Use Disorder Recognizes White House for Issuing Drug Control Strategy

Today, the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) issued its strategy to reduce overdose deaths and the use of drugs. End Substance Use Disorder released the following statement:

“We applaud President Biden and ONDCP Director Rahul Gupta for setting forth a comprehensive strategy to address the overdose crisis that is rooted in science and grounded in compassion,” said Erin Schanning, president of End Substance Use Disorder. “We can save lives and keep our families and communities whole if we get our loved ones the help they need. We look forward to partnering with the White House to ensure that our schools, health care systems, and communities can support the health and wellbeing of our families.”

The White House issues the National Drug Control strategy in the second year of each presidential administration. The strategy is based on the feedback of federal agencies, members of Congress, experts, and other stakeholders. President Biden’s strategy includes prevention, harm reduction, treatment, and recovery initiatives, along with policies to reduce the supply of drugs.
